To control a remote computer is not quite new; The UNIX X protocol, which allows to run a programm on a remote machine using the local graphic exists for more than 20 years now.
To control a radio over a local network is also not quite new; I demonstrated a part of my home network at the "Hobby + Elektonik" fair at Stuttgart in 1988, using modified Packet radio controllers.
But now I have a Flex5000 and networking has been improved dramatically. So you will find something about my Flex5000 remote control project started in May 2007.
This is a general discussion about remote radios. The slightly modified german Version has been published in a (german) radio magazin.
These are papers, that describe the progress and the problems of the project and the project itself in detail.
I measured the delay of different VOIP solutions in my LAN with the Flex5000 (here here)
